The owner is the sweetest ever. Believe it or not in The Bronx, NY it is so hard to find authentic Puerto Rican Cuisine. This right here is a heavy hitter on authenticity. The rice and guandules is done the right PR way. I've seen many others do rice DR style and portray it as PR. Both delicious but when I'm craving PR food, that is what I want. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. I was sad to hear that they are at risk of closing. Putting out this review in hopes that my NYC Yelp family will gather to help them! We ordered plaintain both sweet and savory. All done to perfection. The chuletas (porkchops) were fried and seasoned well. Great meat to slight fattiness ratio. The way I love it done. The churrasco was perfectly cooked and very tender. The several mofongos we ordered were to die for. Mucho sabor! Very flavorful. It had the soft exterior and a few crunchy chicharron for texture. The way it should be done. The drinks were good. The dining area was woody, earthy and cozy. Very welcoming. Going into an establishment that represents part of my culture and being able to honestly rate it 5 stars is an absolute honor. I pray that they continue to flourish. If you're local and craving delicious spanish food, give them a shot!

I've lived in the area for over 25 years and finally decided to give it a try after hearing their story. The food was amazing!! They had a live DJ hosting Karaoke which added entertainment, there are some real hidden talents that visit. Louie I am talking about you buddy lol. Overall the serving size were great - the table shared the Picadera and some other appetizers. Would highly recommend. Thank you again for the amazing service and best of luck. We will continue to support.

Great Puerto Rican and popular food items. The owners, Maribel and her mother Virginia, are always willing to assist with special needs. The bar staff is attentive and friendly. The various activities, from karaoke to spoken word, makes for a great time.

Wait time was long given the boost they recently got on TikTok, but honestly it was all worth the wait!! They had one bartender/waitress who did it all! She was wonderful. I went with a party of three and got an order of chicken pastelitos which were so good! We also got two camarofongos and one mofongo with masitas. All plates were delicious!! On Sundays they also do karaoke which made the wait time more fun. Would definitely come back, the staff here is so nice and the food was delicious.

Warning: I love everything about this place. I've passed by this place several times and the crazy rock facade has always caught my attention - as well as the name of the place "The South of France" followed by "Restaurante & Bar Latino." So when a friend told me she wanted to come to the Bronx for dinner - I thought this was a good time to test it out. The inside is small, has some of the rock facade, a wood bar, tile, mirror, double block glass and tables with 80's mod chairs. It's a fantastic fun mix and perfect for a fun night out. The service is as friendly as it gets- the young lady behind the bar (also the server) talked to us about the menu and made me and incredibly piña colada. My friend and I split the Alcapurrias (amazing!), a salad (you can skip), an incredible side of rice and beans and Camarofongo (easily the best mofongo I've had in a long time). Beyond the food- the atmosphere is pure fun. A loud jukebox playing an insanely fun mix of music (Latin, BeeGees, 80's/90's soul) and people at the bar singing along. The lovely owner, Maribel, came to our table thanked us for coming and told us the restaurant hosts karaoke, poetry readings, LGBTQ nights... I'm mad I haven't been coming here all the time I've known about it...but I'll be back. A bunch!
